How the Word Counter Works
Words are identified with the browser’s language-aware segmenter when available, with a Unicode-aware fallback. Character totals count visible Unicode characters rather than UTF-16 storage units. Reading time uses 200 words per minute and speaking time uses 130 words per minute.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it count non-English text?
Yes. The counter supports Unicode text, including scripts such as Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Are spaces included in the character count?
The results show separate totals with and without whitespace.
